Scalable Internet multicast routing

چکیده
In distributed network applications such as multiparty teleconferencing, users often need to send the same message to several other users. To achieve such one-to-many or many-to-many communication eeciently in wide-area internetworks, it is imperative to support mul-ticast, i.e., concurrent sending of messages from one source to multiple receivers. The current IP architecture for multicast routing, the Core-Based Tree (CBT) protocol, and Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) protocol have a number of limitations for very large internets. To eliminate their limitations , we propose a new multicast routing protocol, called Scalable Internet Multicast Protocol (SIMP).

A New Method based on Intelligent Water Drops for Multicast Routing in Wireless Mesh Networks
In recent years a new type of wireless networks named wireless mesh networks has drawn the attention of researchers. In order to increase the capacity of mesh network, nodes are equipped with multiple radios tuned on multiple channels emerging multi radio multi channel wireless mesh networks. Therefore, the main challenge of these networks is how to properly assign the channels to the radios. O...

Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) which mediates the broadband Internet access, have been recently received many attentions by the researchers. In order to increase capacity in these networks, nodes are equipped with multiple radios tuned on multiple channels emerging multi radio multi-channel WMNs (MRMC WMNs). Therefore, a vital challenge that poses in MRMC WMNs is how to properly assign channels ...
متن کاملAn Architecture for Scalable QoS Multicast Provisioning
IP multicast suffers from scalability problems as the number of concurrently active multicast groups increases, since it requires a router to keep forwarding state for every multicast tree passing through it. In QoS multicast provisioning, the problem becomes even worse, since not only the forwarding state but also the resource requirement of a multicast group needs to be kept at the router. Pr...
متن کاملInternet Multicast Routing and Transport Control Protocols
Multicasting is a mechanism to send data to multiple receivers in an efficient way. In this paper, we give a comprehensive survey on network and transport layer issues of Internet multicast. We begin with a brief introduction to the current Internet protocol multicast model—the “host group” model and the current Internet multicast architecture, then discuss in depth the following three research...

Multicast communication services are one of the longest debated issues in the 30 years history of the Internet. Disagreement over innumerous approaches and solutions to the IP host group model has led to a strongly divergent state of deployment. Stimulated by the need of applications alternative multicast mechanisms have been developed. P2P technologies have enabled group distribution on the ap...
